Why This Site Exists
Printed Appleton directories ended, but many source records survived in separate places. Ownership records sit with Outagamie County property staff and the Register of Deeds. Voter data follows Wisconsin law. Old volumes, newspapers, maps, and yearbooks live at Appleton Public Library and other memory institutions. We bring the verified search routes, office contacts, access limits, and known coverage into one Appleton reference.
What You Will Find Here
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Wisconsin law opens, what stays closed, and how a records request works when something is not online
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to an Appleton office, Outagamie County department, Wisconsin agency, court, or library. Those custodians alone control their records. Some hard limits:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Appleton
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
